All About Ms. Melissa!
I am thrilled to be teaching your children! This is my 9th year teaching 2nd and 3rd grade at DMCS. I feel very fortunate to be a part of such a welcoming and innovative learning community.
I am a Bay Area native. I left my hometown to attend UC Davis and have lived here for eleven years. I have a BA in Human Development with minors in Psychology and Education. I also received my teaching credential and Master's Degree from UC Davis. I was so captivated by the Montessori philosophy that I pursued further training at the Montessori Training Center in Shingle Springs during my 2nd year of teaching. I have my 6-9 AMS Montessori Credential. I am inspired by the Montessori philosophy because I love the independence, responsibility, and hands-on experience it provides for our students. On a more personal note, I am an avid San Francisco Giants Fan! I have many great memories growing up listening to the games on the radio during a long car ride, having the game on in the background while working on homework, and cheering as loud as the best of them at the ballpark. GO GIANTS! I grew up as an athlete playing soccer, softball, and basketball. I try to stay physically active and enjoy going to the gym, hiking, and taking Zumba classes. I live a gluten-free lifestyle, and my favorite food is sushi. I constantly strive to better myself as an individual and as an educator. I enjoy attending professional development opportunities in the area, as well as collaborating with my colleagues. |
